Buprestids are wood-boring beetles. They often rely on one particular species or genus of tree to complete their life cycle. Because of their beauty they have been used in traditional jewellery making! It is theorised that iridescence in beetles is a form of camouflage, allowing them to hide from moving predators more effectively.
A Chrysochroa buqueti specimen in a premium open grain wooden frame. The scientific and common names are printed on acid free card and the frame is sealed with silicone to keep the specimens safe from hungry museum beetles and other such pests.
