The Small Tortoiseshell is a beautiful Eurasian butterfly species, commonly found in the U.K. and parts of Europe and Asia. You'll find them there as long as there are stinging nettles present, their host plant. Bombus terrestris is one of the most widespread bumblebees on the planet. Their colonies are commercially available to farmers who buy them to pollinate their crops. This species is well adapted to flying in cold temperatures and feeds on a wide variety of flowers.
A selection of two Bombus terrestris bumblebees and a small tortoiseshell, Aglais urticae displayed on an illustrated print of bramble blossom and fruit by Carim Nahaboo, presented in a premium open-grain wooden frame. The scientific and common names are printed on acid free card and the frame is sealed with silicone to keep the specimens safe from hungry museum beetles and other such pests.
